Low doc home loan leads: self employed borrowers

Low doc home loan leads are enquiries from self employed people, contractors and small business owners who want a home loan but cannot show the payslips a standard application wants. PrimeLeads runs these campaigns for brokers whose panel includes alternative documentation lending, and the record is built around the question every lender asks first: how is income proven.

How many people this covers

The ABS counted 1.1 million independent contractors in August 2025. That is 7.6% of everyone employed. Then add the owners of Australia's 1,735,470 non-employing businesses, which are 63.6% of all businesses on the ASBFEO's count. Put together, the self employed are a large share of every broker's potential book. They are also the people most likely to be turned away at a bank branch and to look for a broker the same week.

What a low doc record carries

The record replaces the payslip conversation with the documents the enquirer actually has.

  • How long they have been self employed or contracting
  • Which of these exist: lodged tax returns, business activity statements, accountant's letter, bank statements
  • Whether they trade as a sole trader, company or trust
  • Purpose: purchase, refinance or cash out, and the amount
  • Existing debts, including business debt
  • State, timing, time stamp and consent record

What is screened

Every enquiry is phone verified by SMS, checked for duplicates and screened on finance with up to 98 data points before delivery. For a self employed enquirer the screen asks one thing first: can the income be shown at all? That is where most of these enquiries would otherwise fail on the phone, after you have spent twenty minutes on them. We do not assess the loan and we do not approve anyone. A lender does that with the documents in hand.

Business owners borrowing for premises rather than a home are covered under commercial loan leads. Self employed enquirers with clean financials who simply want a better rate are a mortgage refinance lead.
